Bearman eyes future Ferrari seat as Camara joins Haas for 2027

Oliver Bearman says Ferrari is his ultimate Formula 1 goal, while stressing that he remains committed to Haas. Rafael Camara was announced as Esteban Ocon’s replacement at Haas for 2027; Bearman said the move would help Ferrari weigh its medium-term driver options, and he wants to put himself in the best position for that opportunity.

Bearman, a Ferrari Driver Academy member, was placed at Haas in 2025 to prepare him for a possible Ferrari future. Speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, he said he felt ready to fight for podiums and believed he had earned the chance to seek a top-four team. He and Camara are the same age, Bearman said, though Camara has less Formula 1 experience. Bearman also said Haas is the midfield team he wants to be with and where he sees his future; the length of his deal is not his responsibility.

Bearman framed the comparison with Leclerc as a question of timing. Leclerc’s existing arrangement is understood to run until the end of 2029, while Hamilton is set to race for Ferrari in 2027. Bearman said Leclerc’s one season at Sauber in 2018 was strong enough to earn him a Ferrari opportunity; he added that his own path had not unfolded the same way.
