Our hosting and security services process technical data including IP address, requested page, time, browser information and sometimes the referring page. This supports page delivery, troubleshooting and protection against abuse. Our basis is our legitimate interest in keeping this publication available and secure. GPBeat uses no advertising trackers or persistent visitor profiles.

Audience statistics

We count public page and article views, broad referral channels and clicks to News Made Clear. A random number held in the page’s memory prevents duplicate counting and indicates whether the page was recently visible. It is not kept in cookies or browser storage, linked to an account or used to track you across pages. Figures are visible only to the owner through the secured NMC admin workspace. We do not store full referring addresses, search terms, email addresses or IP addresses in these statistics. Abuse prevention temporarily uses a cryptographic derivation of the IP address that changes daily.

Temporary page tokens are deleted within 24 hours and 10 minutes; abuse prevention keys within 20 minutes. Aggregate daily figures are kept for at most 400 days. Hosting services process technical request data under their own retention schedules. This limited measurement serves our legitimate interest in assessing the publication’s reach and operation.

Preferences on your device

Light or dark mode (gpbeat-theme) and followed drivers and teams (gpbeat-following) are kept in local browser storage. These preferences have no automatic expiry and are not sent to our news database. You can remove them by clearing this website’s data in your browser. The language selection is part of the page URL. Hosting security may use necessary cookies.

Service providers and external content

The site is delivered through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare; Supabase provides the news and race database. Technical processing may take place outside the European Economic Area under these services’ arrangements and safeguards. Where indicated, external images are loaded from their source, which receives a technical request from your browser. Following an external source link makes that website’s privacy rules applicable.

Retention and contact

Local preferences remain until you delete them. Technical logs follow the retention periods of the hosting services; The statistics described above are aggregated separately. The exact period differs by log type and is available on request once confirmed by the provider. If you email us, we process your contact details and message to handle your question or correction and document its resolution. Editorial source material and corrections may be retained for journalistic accountability.
