Hamilton says he and Leclerc settled the tension after their Mexico City clash in a direct conversation; Vasseur was understood to have debriefed both drivers.
Lewis Hamilton says a direct conversation with Charles Leclerc has put the tension after their Mexico City Grand Prix clash behind them. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur was understood to have debriefed both drivers after the incident, but Hamilton said his conversation with Leclerc was separate.
Hamilton told Sky Sports F1 ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend: “Fred hasn't cleared the air. It was me and Charles. We sat and spoke, we squashed it, and we're moving on.”
Leclerc attempted an outside move on Hamilton at Turn 4 on the opening lap in Mexico. Both cars went off the circuit before Leclerc rejoined ahead; he later received a five-second penalty for gaining a lasting advantage.
Hamilton said neither driver made demands. They discussed where they could improve and how to support one another, he said, adding that they still had a great deal of respect for each other. He hoped for better races going forward.
