Hinchcliffe jokes Antonelli needs only to wake up to clinch in Mexico

Kimi Antonelli could leave Sunday's Mexico Grand Prix as Formula 1 world champion. James Hinchcliffe joked on the F1 Nation podcast that Antonelli needed little more than to wake up to make it happen.

Antonelli won in Austin, but his lead was not yet large enough to clinch the title. He heads into Mexico 123 points ahead of George Russell and 124 ahead of Lewis Hamilton. With four races remaining after Mexico, Antonelli needs to leave the weekend at least 100 points clear; an eighth-place finish would be enough, regardless of his rivals' results.

Hinchcliffe also described Antonelli's position as unusual for a driver chasing his first title. He recalled looking to his own racing heroes when they faced difficult or unusual situations, but said Antonelli is carving his own path rather than following an obvious example.
