Seven rookies set for São Paulo FP1 as Camara prepares for F1 debut

Seven rookies are set to take part in first practice at the São Paulo Grand Prix. Among them, Brazilian Rafael Camara will replace Esteban Ocon at Haas for the full weekend, making his Formula 1 debut; he is due to race for the team in 2027.

Camara has been drafted in after Ocon was stood down following a falling-out over the Mexico City weekend; Ocon will not return to Haas. Ryo Hirakawa stepped in during that weekend and scored a point, but is unavailable in São Paulo.

The six other FP1 replacements are Leonardo Fornaroli for Oscar Piastri at McLaren, Dino Beganovic for Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, Luke Browning for Carlos Sainz at Williams, Freddie Slater for Nico Hulkenberg at Audi, Gabriele Mini for Pierre Gasly at Alpine and Colton Herta for Sergio Perez at Cadillac. Fornaroli is the reigning F2 champion.

Herta will make his sixth FP1 appearance of the season; 24 laps at Interlagos would earn him the one superlicence point he still needs.
