An FIA technical report says Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton is using his sixth internal combustion engine of the 2026 season—two above the four allowed—while six other power-unit component types are also over their limits.

Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton is using his sixth internal combustion engine of the 2026 season at the São Paulo Grand Prix, two more than the four permitted, FIA Formula 1 technical delegate Jo Bauer says. Bauer’s report states that the engine does not comply with the sporting regulations.

The same report lists six other power-unit component categories above their season allowances: a fifth turbocharger and fifth exhaust set, against limits of four each; a fourth MGU-K, a fourth energy store unit and a fourth control electronics unit, against limits of three each; and a seventh power-unit ancillary component, one above the six allowed.

Bauer’s report says the new engine is in use for the remainder of the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend. Dated 7 November and addressed to the stewards, it is a technical report, not a ruling on a penalty.
