The former Haas team principal says the 20-year-old made few mistakes and usually secured a podium when he knew he could not win.
Guenther Steiner has praised Kimi Antonelli's composure in his title-winning rookie Formula 1 season, saying the Mercedes driver made very few mistakes and never seemed under stress.
Antonelli became Italy's first Formula 1 champion in 73 years, since Alberto Ascari, after finishing third in the Mexico City Grand Prix. At 20 years and 68 days, he also became the youngest champion in the sport's history.
Steiner said Antonelli had adapted well to his role at Mercedes and beaten George Russell, whom he described as a good driver.
He also called the 20-year-old mature for his age. When Antonelli knows he cannot win, Steiner said, he gets the best from the result—normally a podium.
