Verstappen says small gaps at the front make setup or engine-energy deployment important in Brazil; a chance of rain would make the weekend more challenging.
Max Verstappen is cautious about his chances at Interlagos despite three wins in the last four races. At a press conference before the Brazilian Grand Prix, he said the small gaps at the front make the contest hard to predict and that success can sometimes hinge on getting the setup or engine-energy deployment right.
Tyre management is another key to success in Brazil: Verstappen said tyre degradation usually helps produce better racing. He also described Interlagos’ banking and sequence of corners as giving drivers different lines to choose. A chance of rain, he said, would make the weekend more challenging.
Verstappen has excelled there in wet conditions before: he reached the podium from a difficult position in 2016 and won from P17 in 2024, again in the rain.
