Verstappen says Le Mans project with Ricciardo is not possible for now

Max Verstappen has not ruled out a Le Mans entry with Daniel Ricciardo, but says he cannot take on the project now because he lacks the free time to prepare properly.

Asked in Mexico about Ricciardo’s interest in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the possibility of racing together, Verstappen joked that his friend was smart to suggest him as a teammate. He said the idea depended on many factors and that, if he took part, he would want to do it properly with thorough preparation.

Verstappen said he and Ricciardo had already discussed the idea privately. He thought Ricciardo had said he did not see himself returning to a full racing season soon, although a one-off could interest him. For Verstappen, the timing would need to be right and the project would have to offer a realistic chance of winning against drivers who race a full season.
