At a fan forum at the Circuit of the Americas ahead of the United States Grand Prix, George Russell made the title fight with Kimi Antonelli the punchline: get his Mercedes team-mate arrested.
Russell had just told Antonelli, 20, that he would take him drinking. He added, “Actually, this could be a good way to beat you in the championship, to get you arrested on Sunday night,” prompting laughter and gasps from the crowd.
Antonelli was 102 points ahead of Russell in the drivers’ standings heading into the weekend.
