Mekies says Red Bull can wait until Sunday morning for a clearer weather picture before deciding whether to change Verstappen’s setup; a change would require a pit-lane start.
Max Verstappen’s grid penalty gives Red Bull an extra option ahead of Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix. Team principal Laurent Mekies said the team could wait until Sunday morning for a more accurate weather picture before deciding whether to change the car’s setup. Mekies confirmed Verstappen is due to start from the back of the grid.
A setup change would require a pit-lane start instead. Mekies said that was not a major difference from starting at the back. He put the chance of rain at 50-50 at most, while warning that conditions could still go in several directions.
