Formula 1, the city of São Paulo and the promoters of Interlagos have agreed a five-year contract extension, keeping the Brazilian Grand Prix on the calendar until at least 2035. The previous agreement, signed on the eve of the 2023 event, took the race through 2030.
The longer term gives the authorities stability to write off investment in further upgrades to ageing infrastructure. The race is officially called the São Paulo Grand Prix, reflecting the city council’s financial contribution.
Formula 1 returned to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in 1990, when the Brazilian round moved from Rio de Janeiro.
