FIA stewards added five seconds to Oliver Bearman’s race time after ruling that his Haas was released unsafely into Charles Leclerc’s path in the São Paulo Grand Prix pit lane.
The FIA stewards have imposed a five-second time penalty on Oliver Bearman after ruling that his car was released unsafely from a pit stop into the path of Charles Leclerc’s Car 16 during the São Paulo Grand Prix. The five seconds are added to Bearman’s elapsed race time.
The decision says Leclerc was already proceeding along the pit lane and had to brake and take evasive action, being squeezed toward the right-hand pit wall. The stewards heard from both drivers and team representatives, reviewed positioning and marshalling-system data, video and in-car footage, and cited a breach of Article B1.6.2a.
The notice says competitors may appeal certain stewards’ decisions within the applicable time limits; it does not state whether Haas will appeal.
This is a new report following our earlier article.
The ruling specifies a five-second addition to elapsed race time, but provides no revised classification or appeal outcome.
