The procedure requires the top three to be weighed before their interviews in Parc Fermé and sets separate media and weighing rules for other qualifying groups.

An FIA notice dated 31 October for the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix says drivers’ physios and team PR staff may not enter the designated pit-lane area when the top three return after Q3. Only team mechanics (with cooling fans if needed), officials, FIA-pre-approved television crews and photographers are allowed in.

The fastest three at the end of Q3 are instructed to return to the pit lane at the chequered flag, where boards numbered 1, 2 and 3 await them. After leaving their cars, they must be weighed by the FIA and remain fully attired—including helmets and gloves—until the weighing is complete. Interviews then take place in Parc Fermé, with the commercial rights holder selecting the interviewer.

The notice also requires drivers eliminated in Q1 or Q2, those classified fourth to tenth in Q3, and drivers eligible to race who did not take part in Q1 to attend the TV pen after weighing. Q1 and Q2 eliminations must reach the FIA scales through the pit lane immediately after returning to the garage and may not drink or otherwise increase their weight before it is recorded. A driver who stops on track during qualifying and is not required to visit the medical centre must be weighed before returning to the team.
