Hamilton’s first Ferrari pole brought back Schumacher memories

Lewis Hamilton beat George Russell by just 0.009 seconds to secure his first grand prix pole for Ferrari in Mexico City qualifying. At the post-qualifying press conference, he said the achievement took him back to watching Michael Schumacher take pole positions and win races with the team.

Hamilton said Ferrari’s belief and faith in him made the pole a chance to reward the team. Schumacher won five of his seven world titles with Ferrari between 2000 and 2004; Hamilton described the memory as “very, very special.”
