George Russell says repeated setbacks have left him feeling somewhat exhausted during the 2026 season. He also says he has no high expectations for Brazil, but is looking ahead to 2027.

George Russell says the repeated need to recover from setbacks has left him feeling somewhat exhausted during the 2026 season, and that he has no high expectations for the Brazilian Grand Prix. He said the 2026 Mexico Grand Prix was especially difficult after three consecutive weeks away from home; in his view, a chance of victory or a podium disappeared beyond his control.

At the 2026 Mexico Grand Prix, Russell started second, behind pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton. A problem with energy delivery from his hybrid system cost him several places on the long straight to Turn 1. He later received a time penalty after contact with Isack Hadjar and finished sixth. Mercedes acknowledged after the race that the electrical power delivery at the start had not worked as it should.

Russell said he loves Brazil and has good memories there. He said he would continue working on the things he could influence and hoped matters outside his control would resolve themselves. He added that he was looking forward to 2027.
