The McLaren team principal says the pace he saw in Mexico City and upgrades coming to Brazil give his team a chance to move ahead of Red Bull.

Following the Mexico City Grand Prix, Andrea Stella said McLaren could pass Red Bull in the Constructors’ standings at São Paulo, pointing to the pace the team showed in Mexico and upgrades he said were coming to Brazil.

McLaren was 17 points behind Red Bull after Mexico. Stella said the team had 18 points to make up; an 18-point swing in McLaren’s favour would put it one point ahead.
