Hamilton is set to make his 400th Formula 1 start at the São Paulo Grand Prix, becoming only the second driver to reach the mark.

Lewis Hamilton is set to make his 400th Formula 1 start at this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix, becoming only the second driver to reach the milestone. He goes into the event with 399 entries and starts.

Hamilton’s 399 starts have produced 106 wins, 105 poles and 209 podiums, all F1 records. His 70 fastest laps are seven short of Michael Schumacher’s record 77; both drivers are seven-time world champions.

Since his 2007 debut, Hamilton has never recorded a Did Not Start or withdrawn from a race he was entered in. The only Grand Prix he missed was the 2020 Sakhir race, after testing positive for COVID-19 the week before. It would have been his 266th Grand Prix, but he was not entered, leaving his entries and starts level.

Hamilton follows Fernando Alonso, who is due to make his 448th entry and 445th start at Interlagos. Both won their first world titles at the circuit—Alonso in 2005 and Hamilton in 2008—and Alonso secured the 2006 championship there.
