Marrafuschi says Pirelli will consider the next selection process but is focused on the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Asked whether Pirelli would seek a further extension of its Formula 1 tyre-supply contract beyond 2028, the company's head of motorsport business, Dario Marrafuschi, said it was too early to discuss the next cycle. He said the FIA would control the supplier selection.

Marrafuschi said Pirelli would consider the process but was focused on the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

RacingNews365 understands Bridgestone is making fresh technical and commercial preparations to bid for the post-2028 contract. Bridgestone supplied F1 from 1997 to 2010 and served as sole supplier from 2007; Pirelli took over in 2011.

Bridgestone lost to Pirelli in the 2023 tender for the 2025–27 cycle. Its bid reportedly received FIA technical approval before commercial terms were finalised in Pirelli's favour.

The FIA triggered a one-year option in June 2026, extending Pirelli's contract through 2028. A tender covering the 2029 season onwards is expected to be launched around early 2027.
