Verstappen says it is impossible to know if Wolff is right about F1 culture

At a press conference ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen said it was impossible to know whether Toto Wolff was right about a change in Formula 1’s competitive culture.

Wolff had said Kimi Antonelli’s championship reflected a shift in F1 culture. The Mercedes team principal argued that the era of drivers who would do anything to win—and whom he described as selfish and ruthless—was over.

Antonelli was crowned the youngest world champion in Mexico, giving Mercedes its first drivers’ title since 2020.

Verstappen said everyone was entitled to an opinion. He said Formula 1’s different personalities are part of its appeal; if everyone had the same personality, the sport would be boring.
