Max Verstappen gave Ole Schack his Brazilian Grand Prix helmet at the mechanic’s final race for Red Bull. Schack has worked for the team since 2005 and is leaving to spend more time at home.
At Ole Schack’s final race for Red Bull at Interlagos, Max Verstappen gave the mechanic his Brazilian Grand Prix helmet. The team also made a one-off Red Bull can featuring a list of Schack’s career statistics.
Schack has worked for Red Bull since its first season in 2005 and is a front-end mechanic on Verstappen’s car. He is stepping away from life on the road to spend more time at home, rather than joining a rival team.
Schack told De Telegraaf he missed his family and wanted to give something back to them after spending so much time away. He said he had been “a little selfish” by being away so often, and was proud to have been part of Red Bull through its ups and downs.
Before his time with Verstappen, Schack worked as a Red Bull mechanic for David Coulthard from 2005 to 2008 and Sebastian Vettel from 2009 to 2014.
