At the Mexico City Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton said Ferrari looked competitive despite a power-related problem that forced him to stop during Friday’s second practice. The stoppage restricted him to P11 on the timesheets.
Before the stoppage, he said, he had felt good in the car and thought Ferrari had improved its setup. He had not completed the long runs and said he could not assess the car’s performance over longer runs; he also noted that overtaking at the circuit was difficult.
Hamilton saw little need to change the setup, saying he would probably leave it much as it was because the car had been quick. He said Ferrari was still investigating the fault. Team principal Fred Vasseur said the team would decide that night what was needed to fix Hamilton’s car before FP3 and qualifying.
