Ocon says Hamilton approached him after Haas contract decision

During the United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin, Lewis Hamilton came over to Esteban Ocon and spoke with him about his situation after Haas decided not to renew his contract, the Frenchman said.

“Lewis came to me in Austin,” Ocon said. They talked briefly about his situation and “how things went.” Asked whether it was nice that the seven-time F1 champion had made the effort to talk, Ocon replied: “For sure. Yeah, definitely.”

Ocon had also said Lance Stroll was the only driver to have offered him sympathy over his situation.

Haas announced earlier in October that Ocon would leave at the end of the season after two seasons with the team. He is seeking another opportunity, preferably in F1; a third- or test-driver role in 2027 could keep him in the paddock as he hopes to return to the grid in 2028.
