A Friday meeting between Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Fred Vasseur was planned at Interlagos as tensions from Mexico remained unresolved. Autosport's analysis sees it as a chance to define limits for future teammate battles.
Ferrari planned a Friday meeting at Interlagos between Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and team principal Fred Vasseur, with tensions from the Mexico Grand Prix still unresolved.
The three had not sat down together since Mexico. Hamilton reaffirmed at Interlagos on Thursday the position he had expressed after the race in Mexico City. Leclerc was absent from Thursday's media commitments, and the report said his position remained to be heard; the discussion had been postponed until he arrived in the paddock on Friday.
Autosport's analysis frames the meeting less as a way to decide who was right in Mexico than as a chance to draw a line for future battles: when Ferrari is in a position to win, its drivers should not put the team's result at risk.
The analysis also looks beyond the final races of 2026. Ferrari was already preparing for 2027, aiming to reach the season opener able to fight for the biggest prizes.
Ferrari's improved form makes the management question more immediate: over the previous three grands prix, it scored more constructors' points than any other team, and the SF-26 had again become capable of challenging for poles and wins. The article does not necessarily call for a fixed pecking order. Its argument is that Vasseur needs clear authority and that both drivers should respect decisions made in Ferrari's interests. That would let Hamilton and Leclerc race each other while giving the team a line to enforce before a duel endangers the collective result.
