Formula 1 fans praised Lewis Hamilton's embrace of his former race engineer Peter Bonnington after Kimi Antonelli secured his first title at the Mexican Grand Prix. Footage of Hamilton congratulating Bonnington circulated widely online.

One Reddit commenter interpreted the moment as Hamilton setting frustration aside to celebrate his friends; another praised the Mexican Grand Prix podium trio.

Hamilton and Bonnington worked together at Mercedes during the years Hamilton won six of his seven championships. After Hamilton moved to Ferrari in 2025, Bonnington began working with Hamilton's successor, Antonelli, who won his maiden title in only his second F1 season.
