Liam Lawson says uncertainty over his 2027 Racing Bulls seat is taking some of the emotion out of recent results; he has little indication when an announcement will come.
Liam Lawson says uncertainty over his Racing Bulls future “takes away from some of the emotion” of recent strong results. Before the São Paulo Grand Prix, no decision had been made on his 2027 place, and he said there was little indication when an announcement would come.
Lawson described Mexico as a difficult weekend: he had an incident involving Max Verstappen in practice and was disqualified from qualifying. In the race, he went from the pit lane to ninth on the road; penalties for Oscar Piastri and Franco Colapinto later promoted him to seventh. He said he probably had not yet got over everything that happened that weekend, even though the race had been great.
Racing Bulls were evaluating whether to replace Lawson with F2 prospect Nikola Tsolov, while Arvid Lindblad was expected to remain for a second season. Lawson had scored 83 points so far, 69 for Racing Bulls; Lindblad had 38.
Lawson said he felt optimistic ahead of São Paulo, a circuit he likes. Outside Mexico, he said, many recent races had been enjoyable, with some among the most enjoyable he has experienced in F1.
