Charles Leclerc set the fastest time in both sessions, while a power-unit problem forced Lewis Hamilton to stop early in FP2.
Charles Leclerc topped both Friday practice sessions for the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. He set 1:18.128 in FP1 and improved to 1:17.827 in FP2.
Leclerc still topped FP2 despite locking up on the soft tyres and running wide at Turn 1 on his first flying-lap attempt. He said Ferrari’s performance looked “quite alright”, but that the team still had limiting factors to address; he also described the track as slippery.
Lewis Hamilton was fourth in FP1, but a power-unit issue forced him to stop trackside early in FP2, where he finished 11th. He said the interruption left him unable to complete the long run, although the car felt quick, and that the team would investigate the issue that night.
