Hirakawa was expected at Monza for the WEC finale during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend. RacingNews365 reported that Haas reserve Jack Doohan could be in line for a race chance.

Jack Doohan could be in line for a Haas race seat at the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Ryo Hirakawa expected at Monza for the World Endurance Championship finale on the same weekend. RacingNews365 reported on Saturday that Doohan was expected to be Haas’s reserve in Brazil and several subsequent races.

Haas announced on Saturday that Esteban Ocon would take no further part in the Mexico weekend, with Hirakawa taking his seat from third practice. The team gave no reason for the change but confirmed Ocon was not ill. RacingNews365 said an Ocon return did not appear to be on the cards and noted that Hirakawa is not Haas’s regular third driver; he had been in Mexico as reserve and driven in first practice.

Doohan had also been close to a permanent Haas race seat. Paddock sources told RacingNews365 that he impressed in the team’s TPC tests, but that the eventual choice as Ocon’s replacement was Rafael Câmara. Doohan began 2025 as Alpine’s full-time driver before losing his seat to Franco Colapinto.

RacingNews365 also reported talk of giving Câmara a chance before his official F1 debut in 2027. The prevailing paddock view, it said, was that an early move would be too soon and could harm him heading into the next season; he was still fighting for the F2 title.
