RacingNews365 says Stroll was unclassified 13 times in 2026, one short of the separate non-classification mark of 14 and three retirements away from matching the season record of 16.

Lance Stroll is closing in on two Formula 1 single-season records. RacingNews365 says he was unclassified 13 times in 2026, one short of the separate non-classification mark of 14; three more retirements would match the retirement record of 16.

Andrea de Cesaris set the 16-retirement mark in 1987. He failed to reach the finish in any of his 16 races that year, but two results still counted as classified because he had completed more than 90% of the distance. At the 1987 Belgian Grand Prix, he ran out of fuel on the final lap and was classified third.

RacingNews365 defines a non-classification as completing less than 90% of race distance. The separate record of 14 is shared by De Cesaris in 1986 and 1987, Piercarlo Ghinzani in 1986, Ivan Capelli in 1989 and Rubens Barrichello in 1997.

The report says Stroll would surpass the 16-retirement mark if he retired in every race remaining in 2026.
