The Audi racing director said travel and logistics were heading towards both Grands Prix, while the team would respond if circumstances changed.

Audi is still planning to travel to the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix, but will respond if circumstances change, racing director Allan McNish said after the Mexico City Grand Prix. “All the travel, logistics, everything is going in that direction.”

McNish described the situation as “status quo” at the time and said he expected due diligence to be taking place; he called it a “moving target”. F1 and the FIA were continuing to assess whether it was safe to race in the Middle East.

F1 still planned to stage both Grands Prix, while Imola was being prepared as a back-up for Abu Dhabi’s slot if both races fell through.
