Reddit commenter says Bonnington's support mattered to Antonelli's first F1 title

One Reddit commenter argued that Peter Bonnington's experience and support were important to Kimi Antonelli's first Formula 1 title, saying the young driver needed a seasoned presence behind the scenes.

The fan pointed to Bonnington's transition from working with Lewis Hamilton to working with Antonelli. Bonnington worked with Hamilton throughout the Briton's time at Mercedes; Hamilton won six of his seven championships during those years. After Hamilton left Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025, Bonnington began working with Antonelli, Hamilton's successor at the team.

Antonelli secured his maiden championship at the Mexican Grand Prix in his second F1 season. Hamilton was filmed hugging Bonnington as he congratulated him on the achievement.
