Oliver Bearman sees Rafael Camara’s home F1 debut for Haas at the São Paulo Grand Prix as a preview of their 2027 partnership, not a one-weekend shoot-out. He says he wants a teammate who will push him and expects attention to fall on the pair.
Camara has a full-time Haas seat for 2027, but his F1 debut was brought forward after the team confirmed Esteban Ocon would not race for Haas again in 2026. Camara has yet to drive a 2026 F1 car and has tested only an older-spec Haas; his first race weekend will be crucial for learning.
Bearman has faced a similar call-up himself: he filled in for Haas at Interlagos in 2024 and described the event as challenging. He expects Camara to face added pressure but is confident the Brazilian will get up to speed quickly. A home debut, he said, is a rare opportunity despite the difficult circumstances.
Bearman said he had been working towards a leading role at Haas and did not expect much to change this weekend. He said the team aims to retain seventh in the constructors’ standings, with Audi four points behind, and that scoring points remains the priority.
