Bruno Michel says drivers, team principals and people in F1 and F2 were happy to see Antonelli crowned after the Mexico City Grand Prix; at 20 years and 68 days, he became F1’s youngest champion.

Bruno Michel, the FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 CEO, says Kimi Antonelli’s title was met with happiness across Formula 1 and Formula 2. Drivers, team principals and people from both series, he said, were happy to see the Italian crowned.

Michel described the celebrations after the Mexico City Grand Prix as emotional and “very, very nice”. Antonelli was 20 years and 68 days old when he became Formula 1’s youngest drivers’ champion, more than three years younger than Sebastian Vettel when Vettel set the previous record.
