After giving Freddie Slater his FP1 seat, Hülkenberg was without Friday track time when Audi confirmed 17 minutes into FP2 that he would not take part.

Nico Hülkenberg will have no track time on Friday at the São Paulo Grand Prix after a technical problem with his Audi kept him out of second practice (FP2). He had already made way for Freddie Slater in first practice (FP1).

Slater suffered an early stoppage on track in FP1 for the second weekend in a row. The car was brought back to the garage, where the team identified a problem but could not repair it in time for FP2. Seventeen minutes into the session, Audi confirmed Hülkenberg would not take part. Around the time he was ruled out, his car was up on jacks with mechanics working underneath.
