Autosport reports that Bearman and Haas want to continue in 2027, but his expected extension remains unannounced while they address what happens if Ferrari cannot offer him a 2028 seat.
Oliver Bearman’s expected Haas extension for 2027 remains unannounced. Autosport reports that the talks concern his longer-term Ferrari future, not a disagreement about whether he and Haas want to continue together next season. The key question is whether Ferrari can guarantee him a race seat for 2028.
Bearman said in Mexico on Thursday that continuing with Haas was his goal and that the announcement would have come long ago if the decision were his. He said the sides were still working through broader issues. Team principal Ayao Komatsu likewise said both parties wanted to continue and were seeking a solution for 2027. Komatsu dismissed unsubstantiated rumours that Bearman’s pay demands were holding up the deal as “absolute nonsense”.
Autosport understands that Bearman would be free to leave Maranello if Ferrari could not guarantee him a seat for 2028 after three years on loan to customer team Haas. The report says clarifying that longer-term arrangement is what holds up the formal announcement.
Ferrari’s 2028 line-up remains uncertain. Lewis Hamilton exercised a contractual option securing his place at Ferrari for 2027, while Charles Leclerc has agreed a long-term extension through at least 2030. Autosport also points to Hamilton’s recent comments about his longevity, which it says do not suggest an imminent departure. The report says Ferrari cannot guarantee today what its line-up will be two seasons from now.
