Lawson says his Racing Bulls had no power as he left the pit lane in Mexico City. He says the medical car pulled away, then slowed to let him pass before Turn 1.
At the Mexico City Grand Prix, the medical car nearly beat Liam Lawson to Turn 1 as he came out of the pit lane. Asked about the moment in Brazil, Lawson said his Racing Bulls had no power at the time.
Lawson had started Sunday’s race from the pit lane after Racing Bulls replaced the suspension and parts of the power unit under parc fermé following his qualifying disqualification. The changes meant he had to give up his grid position.
Lawson said there was a moment when both vehicles were at full throttle, but the medical car still pulled away. He pointed to boost delay, Mexico City’s altitude and the way the power units work.
According to Lawson, the medical car had to brake and slow down to let him pass; otherwise, it would have reached Turn 1 first. He called the 2026 engine formula absurd.
