Bearman called Ocon’s absence challenging for everyone but said having Rafael Câmara in the car now can help Haas prepare for 2027.
Oliver Bearman says he misses Esteban Ocon at Haas and feels for him after the team confirmed Ocon would not drive for it again during the remainder of 2026 following an internal dispute in Mexico City. Haas has declined to elaborate on what happened.
“It's strange not having Esteban here,” Bearman said ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix. He described the situation as challenging for everyone and said he hoped it would not disrupt the team. Looking back at the previous week, he said he would not describe the situation as disruptive.
Ryo Hirakawa filled in for Ocon at the Mexico City Grand Prix; Câmara, Ocon’s replacement for 2027, will make his Haas debut in São Paulo this weekend. Bearman called having Câmara in the car now a positive, saying it would help Haas prepare as a team for 2027.
Bearman and Câmara joined the Ferrari Driver Academy at the same time, he said, although they never raced in the same category. Ocon had pushed him hard, Bearman said, and he expects Câmara to be a strong competitor too.
