Schumacher accepted the Hamilton–Leclerc fight as a racing situation but objected to Hamilton asking over team radio for a penalty against his Ferrari team-mate. He also said team principal Fred Vasseur was losing control of the driver line-up.

Ralf Schumacher has criticised Lewis Hamilton’s radio response after his clash with Charles Leclerc at the Mexico City Grand Prix, saying Hamilton should not have asked race control to penalise his Ferrari team-mate.

Schumacher distinguished between the on-track contest and what followed. He said he accepted the Ferrari pair’s battle as racing in which neither driver wanted to yield, but objected to Hamilton’s request for a penalty over team radio.

Both Ferraris went completely off the asphalt at Turn 4 in the opening sequence of corners. Leclerc received a five-second FIA penalty after defending his position across the grass.

Schumacher also likened Hamilton’s tone to that of Al Capone. He argued that Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur was losing control of the driver line-up and called for urgent change at the team.
