After sealing the championship with third place in Mexico, Kimi Antonelli says the hectic, emotional days have left him needing more time to take it all in. He is focused on finishing 2026 as well as possible while preparing for 2027.
Kimi Antonelli says his first Formula 1 world title still feels unreal. He sealed the championship with third place in Mexico. Speaking to RacingNews365 and other media, he described the days that followed as hectic and said the moment became a little too much with so much happening at once.
His team gave him a special championship shirt that morning. Antonelli said seeing it made him wonder whether the title had really happened. He described the moment as important and emotional, and said he still needs more time to process it.
The days after the title also included a visit to the Senna family, which Antonelli called a great experience. He said he would have welcomed a little more time off to recover and reflect.
For now, his focus is on finishing the 2026 season as well as possible. Antonelli says preparation for 2027 has already begun; he expects to take in the achievement more fully once he is home, with the end-of-year ceremony another chance to look back on what has been achieved.
