Lindblad said Piastri had been stuck behind him for more than 10 laps and that he was committed to fighting for position. He wanted to see all the footage before commenting fully on the collision; Piastri received a 10-second post-race penalty.

Arvid Lindblad said he and Oscar Piastri were in a genuine fight in the closing stages of the Mexico City Grand Prix. He said he was committed to defending his position and would not let the McLaren driver pass easily around the outside.

Lindblad said Piastri had been stuck behind him for more than 10 laps. On lap 58, Piastri moved to the outside into Turn 1 and made contact with the left-rear of Lindblad’s Racing Bulls car. The impact sent Lindblad into the air and into the wall at the exit of Turn 2; he did not finish the race. Piastri was handed a 10-second penalty after the race for the incident.

On the collision itself, Lindblad said immediately afterwards that he wanted to see all the footage before commenting fully.
