Lawson blamed Verstappen after contact in Friday’s second practice scattered debris and brought out a brief red flag. The stewards noted the incident.

Liam Lawson said Max Verstappen “literally drove into me” after they made contact during second practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix on Friday 30 October 2026. The clash brought out a brief red flag.

The pair had been following Williams driver Carlos Sainz when they ran side by side through Turn 12. Neither backed out before the contact, which scattered debris across the circuit.

The stewards noted the incident, and Verstappen returned to the track with just under 40 minutes remaining.

Charles Leclerc was quickest for Ferrari with a 1:17.827, ahead of Lando Norris by 0.103 seconds and George Russell by 0.106. Verstappen finished the session fifth and Lawson ninth.
